We’re new, so everything we do is NEWS.

American Cast Iron Company has a compelling story to tell. Our company was founded to celebrate modern heroes with unique high-quality products created by American craftspeople using technologies that are sadly disappearing from the American scene.

Ours is a story of a low-tech startup, of inventing, creating, and building a small business, of locating capable American manufacturers that are surviving despite the cheap labor of their foreign competitors, of using old-school industries to evoke a sense of quality, of tapping into the pride of American workers.

If you’re interested in telling our story or would like more information or product photographs, we’d like to help. Contact media inquiries.

Baltimore’s American Cast Iron Co. to Sell Cal Ripken, Jr. “IronEight™” Collectibles on QVC

Baltimore, Maryland, July 17, 2007—American Cast Iron Company, a new Baltimore corporation, will have one of its Cal Ripken, Jr. commemoratives, the cast-iron IronEight™ Plaque, featured on QVC and personally presented by Ripken on August 23’s “Baseball Collectibles” program at 9 p.m. The IronEight™ Plaque is an officially licensed cast-iron commemorative of the Iron Man, sanctioned by Major League Baseball Properties, Inc., the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, Inc., and Ironclad Authentics, LLC. It is a replica of Ripken’s orange-on-black number 8 as it appeared on the back of his home-game jersey throughout his record-breaking career, and on his away-game jersey during the ’81-’88 and ’95-’01 seasons.

The IronEight™ Plaque was designed to commemorate Iron Man Ripken’s consecutive-game “Streak,” which he voluntarily ended at 2,632, breaking Lou Gehrig’s record of 2,130 games. In 2002 fans voted this the most memorable moment in Major League Baseball&™ history. The product is a limited edition, with 2,632 castings representing the number of games Ripken played in a row. The medium of cast iron is a natural for a tribute to the Iron Man of baseball. Ripken will be inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame, in Cooperstown, New York, on August 29, 2007.

Each IronEight™ is packaged in a custom wood crate branded with Ripken’s signature and the Hall of Fame logo. The Plaque features the “Cal Ripken, Jr. HOF 2007” signature etched into the back, as well as the unique casting edition number. A maple display stand accompanies the Plaque, which leans against a miniature black bat printed with a silver Ripken signature.

Other Plaques available are a limited-edition black-on-orange 8, showing the colors worn by Ripken during away games for the ’89-’94 seasons; and an open-edition unpainted, “raw iron” casting. All of the IronEight&™ Plaques and other IronEight™ products will be available on www.ironcladauthentics.com and www.americancastiron.com. The limited-edition Plaque retails for $265, and open-edition models are available starting at $110.
